Getting Started - An Overview
The Topanga Montessori Preschool is dedicated to creating a nurturing, healthy and happy environment where children can grow and develop emotionally, cognitively and physically.
At the Topanga Montessori Preschool your child will enjoy a comprehensive Montessori based curriculum with a prepared environment that includes the following areas:practical life, sensorial ,language, math, cultural, and art areas.
Admission Policies
Prior to enrollment parents must complete the following steps:
- Complete application and send to school along with a non-refundable check for $100
- Interview with the director

Staff
Trained early childhood educators, staff our preschool. The staff is sensitive to the needs of the children and their families, and has a strong commitment to quality education.
The staff meets weekly to discuss curriculum, plan programs and share and exchange ideas in order to uphold the high standards of our program. Staff development is ongoing throughout the year to ensure that our teachers remain alert to the ever-changing needs of today's families and to the findings of current research.
Daily Schedule
The daily schedule is planned to include active and quiet times, gross and fine motor activities and child-initiated as well as staff-initiated activities. Outdoor (weather permitting) or indoor gym play is scheduled each day.
Our school days are:
4 Day Program - Monday through Thursday
5 Day Program - Monday through Friday
Our school hours are:
8:15 AM - 3:00 PM
Snack
A snack is provided by the school.
All snacks include fresh fruit and/or vegetables. Rice milk and water are always available.
Graduating Students
Our students are accepted and transition well into school such as: Carlthorp, Buckley, Viewpoint, 7 Arrows, Westland and Topanga Elementary.
Facilities
Our facilities include:
- Large, light filled, airy, well maintained and child friendly classroom.
- Children's garden.
- Large playground including climbing structures, swings, fruit trees, covered sand box, water works.
- Library filled with the latest in children's literature as well as parenting section.
- Large room for dance, indoor play and parent programs.
Seasonal Festivals
We bring in each season with a festival that comprises of children presentations, family picnics and refreshments. At Topanga Montessori we celebrate the seasons- without getting into specific holidays.
Celebrations
Birthdays are a time to celebrate. Each child shares his/her birthday celebration with the class. Muffins are baked by their classmates and parents provide fresh fruit.
